C&I Leasing partners with Chinese company COOEC, for new Dangote refinery contract.
C&I Leasing Plc, the market leader for operational leases, and offshore marine support services in Nigeria, has through one of its subsidiaries, Epic International FZE, partnered with China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) for the provision of transportation and installation of mooring systems and subsea pipelines needed for a grassroots integrated refinery and petrochemical plant to be built in south-west Nigeria’s Lekki Free Trade Zone, near the capital of Lagos by the Dangote Industries.
EPIC International FZE, will act as the sole consultant for COOEC on the Dangote project, by providing local content and strategic business development support.
The workscope includes transportation and installation of nine subsea pipelines with a total length of 100 kilometres in water depths of up to 40 metres. Of the pipelines, six are 24-inch diameter and three are 48-inch.
The contract also obligates the Chinese contractor to install five single point mooring systems, a catenary anchor leg mooring buoy weighing 240 tonnes and pipeline end manifold carrying a total weight of 220 tonnes for a shuttle tanker that imports crude for the refinery.
COOEC will start design studies in February next year, with the transportation and installation work to start in November and end a year later.
The company – headquartered in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin – will deploy its flagship heavy-lift and pipelay barge Lanjiang to carry out single point mooring and pipeline installation work.
