HISTORY AND BUSINESS
1. C&I Leasing Plc, a finance company licensed by the
Central Bank of Nigeria, was incorporated on 28th December,
1990 as a private limited liability company to provide both
operating and finance leases and other ancillary services.
2. The principal activities of the Company are the extension
of structured Operating and Finance Leases to the productive
and other sectors of the economy. In recent years, this
activity has been expanded to providing logistic support
services. The company is a key player in the strategic oil
and oil service industry where it provides leases and
ancillary services to both local affiliates of international
companies such as Cadbury, Heineken, Shell, Chevron,
ExxonMobil, ENI-Agip, and MTN.
3. The activities of C&I are co-ordinated from its corporate
Head Office located at 2, C&I Leasing Drive, Lekki Phase 1,
Lagos, Nigeria. The company also has operational branches
located in the oil producing centres of Port Harcourt and
Warri and in Abuja. From inception C&I Leasing has continued
to enjoy exceptional market acceptance and growth which has
enabled the company to establish a profitable niche market
based on its superior service and delivery styles.
4. During 1998, C&I concluded a major share-holding
restructuring and diversification exercise that saw the
conversion of the company into a Public Company and the
listing of its shares on the Official List of the Nigerian
Stock Exchange. The Company is presently the only leasing
and rental services company listed on the Nigerian Stock
Exchange. The company raised the sum of N1.3 billion
(approximately $11m in 2006 through a public issue. Total
market capitalization has grown consistently since then and
is currently over N12 billion (approximately $100 million)
C&I Leasing places a high premium of customer satisfaction
and quality serve. This is attested to by the certification
of its Quality Management Ssytems to ISO 9001:2000 by the
Standards Organisation of Nigeria in August 2007.
As part of its efforts to become the leading leasing
services provider in the West African Sub-region, C&I
Leasing acquired 59% of the issued share capital of the 2nd
largest leasing company in Ghana, Leasafric Limited (www.leasafric.com
). The balance of the equity is held by Aureos West Africa
Fund and local Ghanaian investors.
