C & I Leasing Plc (C&I Leasing or the company), foremost leasing and ancillary services conglomerate on Friday, August 30, held the maiden edition of its Knowledge Sharing Forum Series for women.
Tagged the “C&I Women Knowledge Sharing Forum,” the series seeks to groom, educate, inspire, challenge and encourage women across the company to develop strong leadership qualities, skills and abilities that will position them for greatness in the workplace and beyond.
In her opening remarks, Maureen Ogbonna, Group Head, Human Resources and Strategy at C&I Leasing said that at present there is a limited number of women in leadership positions all over the world, but more so in Africa.
Maureen Ogbonna, who also chaired the event noted that women are the backbone in the development of rural and national economies, hence the urgent need to groom them for leadership through learning, training and networking opportunities.
“C&I Leasing is making an obvious and deliberate intention to improve leadership of women in the office and beyond,” she said.
“The Managing Director (Mr Andrew Otike-Odibi) has tasked us with the responsibility of grooming the women of C&I Leasing for leadership positions within and outside the company.
“From now on, it will be a whole new world of leadership training and mentorship opportunities for the women of C&I.”
Financial literacy class
The C&I Women Knowledge Sharing Forum, which held across the company’s branches nationwide, featured a presentation on financial literacy with a focus on simplifying key accounting terms and a call for women to arm themselves with investment knowledge that would help them secure their financial future.
Uzoamaka Nwankwo, Management Accountant C & I Leasing Plc facilitated the session.
